LEADERSHIP TRAINING BRIEF NEWS

Leaders develop a vision of the future and align it with the purposes of their organisations. Leaders inspire and motivate and set a direction with their teams. They identify the best paths to progress, eliciting the potential of all those who work for them. Leaders create leaders out of their team members.

Sustained success cannot be built on the leader's energy alone. Indeed, as recent research by PriceWaterhouseCooper shows, a 'too dominant' leader is one of the key causes of an organisation's failure. Sustained success requires that the energies of all the team members must be directed towards a vision that takes account of the aim of the organisation and the legitimate interests of all key stakeholders in that organisation's life.

This course will familiarise participants with the solution focused approach to leadership. The course is structured around four key leadership tasks:

Harnessing strength and potential
Developing a shared vision of an inspired future
Determining the best path towards the realisation of the vision
Building enthusiasm and motivation

The solution focused leader's style is collaborative, appreciative, questioning and empowering. The solution focused leader values diversity and is open to discovering new pathways that fit with the particular strengths and skills of team members. The solution focused approach provides a straightforward framework of ideas that has the power to transform working relationships and what those relationships can achieve.

This course will invite participants to reflect on themselves and their own best practices, their teams and the key stakeholders shaping their joint futures. The course will support managers in learning a model of leadership that makes the best of the potential available and builds new possibilities.
